Dongpu Hot Springs is located by the Chiyuanshan River in Xinyi Township, Nantou County. It sits at an elevation of around 1,120 meters and is a renowned hot spring village known for its stunning mountain scenery. The area is predominantly inhabited by the Bunun indigenous tribe. Its carbonated sodium bicarbonate hot spring, commonly referred to as the "Beauty Bath," is famous far and wide. The source of the spring is located at the foothills of the Wangxiang Mountain on the eastern side. With a temperature of around 53 degrees Celsius, which is considered moderate, there's no need for dilution with spring water, making it one of the rare original hot springs. The water of Dongpu Hot Springs is transparent and can be used for both bathing and drinking. It is believed to have benefits such as relieving fatigue and promoting health.
In addition, Dongpu is also a green wilderness in the mountains, perfect for flower viewing, escaping the summer heat, and outdoor excursions. Adjacent to Yushan National Park, it is one of the routes to ascend Yushan Mountain and an essential stop along the Batongguan Historic Trail. Nearby, there are also famous attractions such as Rainbow Waterfall, Lover's Valley, and scenic spots along the Batongguan Historic Trail like "Father Doesn't Know Son's Cliff," Cloud Dragon Waterfall, and Maiden Waterfall. The atmosphere is tranquil and surrounded by verdant hills and clear waters. During the winter, plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, and peach blossoms bloom in succession, creating a colorful and enchanting scene. In summer, tung flowers, areca flowers, and bitter tea flowers all add to the allure.
