Hehuanshan Dark Sky Park (Yuanfeng Star Theater)
Scenic spot introduction
The designated area of Hehuan Mt. Dark Sky Park is located in the central part of Taiwan's central region, encompassing the peaks of the central area. It is the highest accessible point in Taiwan by road and includes five major stargazing spots along the way: Yuen Feng, Kunyang, WuLing, Song Xue Lou, and Xiao Feng Kou. It is the first Dark Sky Park in Taiwan, the third in Asia, and has been certified by the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA). Inside the park, there is not only a mural of planets, but also the "Yuen Feng Stargazing Platform" designed specifically for stargazers, allowing visitors to enjoy a 360-degree, light pollution-free space and experience a fantastic and romantic atmosphere.
In addition to the outdoor park area, a starry sky experience theater has been created. The spherical screen installed in it can be used as a planetarium and also allows for immersive interaction with visitors. The storyline and ending of the theater experience vary based on the visiting time each day. The content of the theater is specifically tailored to the Hehuanshan environment, incorporating local indigenous themes, landscape features, and unique flora and fauna. This provides visitors with an astronomical and fantastical journey that showcases the distinctive characteristics of the local area.
