Hutoushan County Scenic Area
Scenic spot introduction
The Hutoushan County Scenic Area primarily encompasses the Stele of Taiwan's Geographical Center, the Liyu Lake Scenic Recreation Area, and the vicinity of BaoHu Temple Dimu. Its geographical location lies in the northeastern outskirts of Puli Township, forming the terminal peak of the Hengshan Mountain as it extends northwest into the Puli Basin. The mountain's shape resembling a tiger's head has earned it the name Hutoshan, also known as Huzishan. With an elevation of around 555 meters, it is located at the center of Taiwan. At the summit, there is a triangulation point established through re-survey in 1976. Climbing up more than 400 steps for about 20 minutes on foot, you can witness the true appearance of Taiwan's central point atop Lushan.
Surrounded by a circle of mountains, Hutoushan offers a pleasant landscape. Adjacent to it, there are pavilions and viewing platforms where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Puli Basin. Not only does it provide an expansive field of vision, but it is also a popular paragliding base. Additionally, hiking trails like Hutoushan and Liyu Lake trails are established in the vicinity. Hutoushan boasts not only magnificent daytime views but also serves as an excellent spot to admire the Puli night scene after the sunset. It's a great destination for mountain climbing, hiking, cloud-watching, sunset viewing, and enjoying the night scenery.
